  • Cystic Fibrosis – Cystic fibrosis is a genetic lung disorder that affects the mucus-producing cells. The manifestation of the symptoms associated with the condition is based on the severity of the disease with wheezing, excessive exertion, and persistent lung infections being the common ones.
  • Emphysema – Emphysema is a common lung ailment that results in shortness of breath due to the damaged alveoli. The damage to the alveoli results in reduced oxygen reaching the bloodstream and thereby reduced ability to carry out any physical activity, persistent breathlessness amongst others.
  • Interstitial Lung Disease – Refers to a group of lung-related disorders that result in the scarring of the lung tissues. The disorders can be a result of excessive exposure of pollutants/hazardous materials or due to autoimmune factors. It is often an irreversible lung condition.
  • Lung Cancer – Cancers that originate in the lungs and are commonly associated with people who smoke. Lung cancers are primarily of two types – small-cell & non-small-cell cancers. Common symptoms associated with lung cancer include – blood vomiting, persistent chest pain and cough.
  • Pneumonia – Pneumonia is an infection of the alveoli causing inflammation and filling-up of the air sacs with fluid. It can be either one or both lungs and in a severe form can be a life-threatening condition. Fever, chills, and breathing difficulties are common symptoms associated with pneumonia.
  • Pulmonary Fibrosis – Scarring and damage to the lung tissue is known as pulmonary fibrosis. The scarring makes it difficult for the lungs to function properly thereby reducing your ability to breath adequately and carry out physical activities. The condition worsens progressively and eventually can become life-threatening.
  • Sleep Apnea – Sleep apnea is a serious condition wherein breathing stops & starts frequently during the course of a sleep cycle. Persistent snoring and fatigue post-sleep are the common symptoms of sleep apnea. Increasing age and excessive weight gain are the common risks factors that lead to sleep apnea.
