Precautions To Protect Your Child During COVID19
25/03/2023
The whole world has been taken over by the pandemic putting everyone we know and we love at risk. This virus is transmitted easily from person to person. While most reports suggest the children are not at a high risk of developing virus-related complications, it is essential to take care. There have been reports of infections and mortality in children too, although the number is small. Hence, it is vital to take measures to protect our kids. Here are a few things that you need to follow.
- Wash Hands Regularly:
You should tell your kids to wash their hands every hour especially after coughing, sneezing or touching objects that are touched by other family members, such as switchboard, remote, etc. Ask them to wash their hands for at least 20 seconds or frequently use an alcohol-based sanitizer.
- Cover The Face:
Teach your kid to cover their mouth and nose with a tissue or flexed elbow while coughing and sneezing. Ask them to dispose of the used tissue and avoid touching any object or face after sneezing or coughing without washing their hands.
- Cleaning is a must:
It is a necessity in today's scenario to keep your house clean especially when you have kids around. You should clean or disinfect your child’s toys’ at least once a day. Clean the floor and commonly touched objects at least once or twice a day at home.
- Avoid Contact:
Ask your little ones to avoid any contact with people or children who have a cold, fever or flu-like symptoms. Also, parents should request their other family members to isolate themselves from the child, if they have symptoms or even discomfort.
- Keep Them Indoors:
We know it's difficult to make your child sit at home for a longer period but it is very necessary to try and engage them in indoor activities. Avoid taking them to crowded places and even ask them to maintain social distancing from immediate family members.
- Give Them A Balanced Diet:
Give your child a diet with a lot of nutritious food and add immune boosters in their diet like citrus fruits and vegetables. Ensure they have foods and supplements that are rich in vitamin C, vitamin D, and zinc to build their immunity. Also, keep them hydrated and physically active.
We also recommend you to consult your doctor if your child even shows the slightest of cold and flu symptoms. Avoid giving them any home remedies. It can be very risky for the child.
