Dr. Shweta Bhardwaj is a Consultant Rheumatologist and Clinical Immunologist at Continental Hospitals, Gachibowli, Hyderabad. She holds an MBBS, an MD in Internal Medicine and a DM in Clinical Immunology & Rheumatology from King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow, one of India’s premier medical institutions.
Her clinical journey began with an MBBS from Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences, Karad. She completed her internship in Meerut and postgraduate training in Internal Medicine at Government Medical College & Hospital, Chandigarh. She then served as a Senior Resident in Internal Medicine at BSA Medical College & Hospital, Delhi, from 2017 to 2021. There she managed a wide range of acute and chronic illnesses, which gave her a strong grounding in whole-patient care.
Dr. Bhardwaj completed her DM at KGMU between 2022 and 2025. Her dissertation studied the effect of cyclophosphamide on ovarian function in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and compared it with mycophenolate mofetil and azathioprine. The work reflects her focus on making autoimmune treatment effective while protecting long-term health and fertility.
She has also completed several EULAR certifications, including Pediatric Rheumatology, Ultrasound, Musculoskeletal Ultrasound and the two-year Advanced Training in Rheumatology. She holds ACLS and BLS certification from the American Heart Association. Her EULAR ultrasound training helps her assess joint and soft-tissue inflammation at the bedside.
Dr. Bhardwaj treats rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, gout, scleroderma, Sjögren’s syndrome, vasculitis, myositis and other autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. She also treats children with rheumatic diseases. Her approach is to reach an accurate diagnosis early, build a treatment plan around the patient’s life and goals, and monitor closely to prevent joint damage and organ complications.
