About Dr Uma Karthik Kanidarapu
Dr. Uma Karthik Kanidarapau is a highly skilled and board-certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon with extensive experience in adult cardiac and thoracic surgeries. With an MCh in Cardiothoracic Surgery from the prestigious Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad, Dr. Karthik has been consistently contributing to excellence in cardiac healthcare. He specializes in CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting), valve replacements (MVR, AVR), aortic surgeries, and thoracic procedures, along with a strong interest in heart and lung transplantation.
Recently, Dr. Karthik has joined Continental Hospitals, Hyderabad as a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon, where he continues to offer advanced surgical care with a patient-centric approach. His previous experience includes working with leading institutions like Apollo Spectra Hospitals, NIMS, and Apollo Hospitals Vizag, where he was instrumental in handling complex cardiac cases and establishing new surgical departments.
Dr. Karthik is known for his precision, dedication, and compassionate care, making him one of the emerging names in cardiothoracic surgery in Hyderabad. Established a Cardiothoracic Surgery Department at Arundhati Medical College & Hospital, Hyderabad, and successfully performed 15+ cardiac surgeries with a high success rate and only one reported mortality.
Actively participated in 8 heart transplant cases at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad – involved in pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative management.
Performed multiple independent CABG, MVR, and AVR procedures as an Assistant Professor at NIMS, showcasing surgical proficiency and decision-making under high-pressure clinical settings.
Presented a paper titled “Review of Thoracic Surgery in Pulmonary Tuberculosis in a Tertiary Care Centre – A Retrospective Study” at IACTS 2021, contributing to advancements in thoracic surgical knowledge.
