Dr Hrishikesh Sarkar is an internationally acclaimed neurosurgeon, with over two decades of experience in advanced neurosurgical care. He is the Director of "Continental center for Minimally invasive Endoscopic Neurosurgery" ( C- MEN) which is located in Continental Hospitals, Gachibowli, Hyderabad and his surgical expertise spans brain and spine surgery, keyhole and minimally invasive neurosurgery, skull base surgery, and neurorestorative techniques.
A graduate of Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, Dr Hrishikesh Sarkar earned his MCh in Neurosurgery from Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai. He went on to receive fellowships from Hirslanden Klinik, Zurich (Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery) and the American College of Surgeons (USA). In 2025, he was named International Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
Before joining Continental Hospitals, Dr Hrishikesh Sarkar held leadership roles such as Director and Head of Neurosurgery at MIOT International, Chennai, and Senior Consultant at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai. His innovative work has redefined keyhole neurosurgery, introducing approaches like the Mini Supraorbital and Eyelid Corridor techniques, and performing South India’s first “Awake” Brain Bypass Surgery for stroke.
Dr. Sarkar has authored over 35 peer-reviewed research papers, served as Editor and Reviewer for international journals, and co-edited the Springer textbook “Complications in Neurosurgery”. His patient-centric approach, precision, and commitment to innovation make him one of India’s most respected neurosurgeons.

General Symptoms / Conditions
Dr. Hrishikesh Sarkar is widely recognized for treating highly complex neurological and neurosurgical cases with exceptional precision and advanced clinical expertise. With extensive experience in brain, spine, nerve and skull surgeries, he has earned a reputation for delivering successful outcomes even in challenging situations where others consider surgery high-risk. Dr. Sarkar specializes in minimally invasive neurosurgery, skull base disorders, brain tumor removal, epilepsy surgery, deep brain stimulation, pediatric neurosurgery and complex spine procedures. Patients from across India and abroad seek his care for accurate diagnosis, safe surgical techniques and faster recovery. He offers comprehensive treatment for a wide range of neurological conditions, including all the advanced procedures and treatments listed below.
1. Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS)
A minimally invasive procedure where electrodes are placed in specific brain regions to control movement disorders like Parkinson’s disease, tremors, and dystonia.
2. Neurostimulation Therapy
Advanced nerve stimulation treatment used to reduce chronic neuropathic pain and movement disorders when medications do not provide relief.
3. Advanced Epilepsy Surgery & Medical Management
Comprehensive epilepsy care including video-EEG evaluation, medication optimization, and minimally invasive brain surgery for drug-resistant epilepsy.
4. Craniosynostosis Surgery
Surgery to correct premature fusion of skull bones in infants, allowing normal brain growth and restoring head shape.
5. Skull Base Surgery
Highly specialized surgery to access deep brain tumors, vascular lesions, or nerve disorders located at the base of the skull.
6. Scoliosis Correction Surgery
Spine-straightening surgery performed using rods and implants to correct abnormal spinal curvature and improve breathing or posture.
7. Lumbar Disc Surgery
Microdiscectomy or endoscopic spine surgery to remove herniated disc material and relieve nerve compression causing back and leg pain.
8. Lumbar Spinal Stenosis Treatment
Minimally invasive procedures to decompress the spinal canal, relieving numbness, weakness, and nerve pain in the lower limbs.
9. Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery
Small-incision procedures for slip disc, nerve compression, spine instability, and trauma, promoting faster recovery and less pain.
10. Epidural (Extradural) Hematoma Management
Emergency brain surgery to remove blood clots between the skull and dura mater to prevent brain compression and save life.
Brain & Cranial Care
11. Brain Tumor Surgery
Advanced microsurgical and minimally invasive techniques to remove benign or malignant brain tumors with maximal safety and precision.
12. Pituitary Adenoma Surgery
Endoscopic transnasal approach used to remove tumors of the pituitary gland, restoring hormonal balance and vision.
13. Management of Common Brain Tumors
Comprehensive care including MRI diagnostics, surgery, stereotactic radiosurgery, and follow-up cancer rehabilitation.
14. Skull Fracture / Cranial Trauma Management
Neurosurgical treatment for skull fractures, intracranial bleeding, and brain injuries caused by accidents or falls.
Neurological Disorders & Pain Management
15. Trigeminal Neuralgia Treatment
Surgical or medical treatment to relieve severe facial nerve pain using microvascular decompression, nerve blocks, or radiosurgery.
16. Epilepsy Treatment for Children & Adults
EEG-based diagnosis and advanced medical therapy to control seizures and prevent future episodes.
17. Parkinson’s Disease Treatment
Customized treatment including medication, physiotherapy, and Deep Brain Stimulation to improve movement, balance, and tremors.
